Alex Cohen is a play-by-play broadcaster with over 2,000 games of experience.
Cohen broadcasts select Chicago Cubs Spring Training games and regular season games and has been the lead broadcaster for the Iowa Cubs, Triple-A Affiliate for the Chicago Cubs, since 2018.
As part of his broadcast responsibilities with the I-Cubs, Alex hosted the pregame and postgame shows and conducted interviews with coaches, players, guests, and sponsors.
He was named the 2023 Broadcaster of the Year by Ballpark Digest during his time in Iowa.
In addition to his professional baseball experience, Cohen has called games around the world. He has been part of the broadcast team for the World Baseball and Softball Confederation since 2015, calling three Premier 12 tournaments, a U-23 World Baseball Cup and a U-15 Baseball World Cup in Taiwan, Japan, Mexico and Colombia. He’s also broadcasted a season with the Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League.
Overall, the 36-year-old has worked in baseball since 2009, broadcasting more than 1,500 baseball games at the affiliated and international levels.
Along with his baseball duties, Cohen fills in as a sports talk and podcast host with 1460 KXNO in Des Moines. He also broadcasts football, basketball, softball and gymnastics collegiately for a handful of Division 1 Universities, including Iowa State University and DePaul University.
In 2024, Cohen broadcasted basketball professionally for the WIndy City Bulls, G-League Affiliate of the Chicago Bulls.
Alex graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington with a B.A. in Journalism in 2011.
